Custom Options for Timberline Saddles
|
 |
|
Timberline leather options include your choice of Chestnut, Natural, Oxblood, Brown, Rust & Black in suede or smooth calfskin.
Timberline Saddle Company uses only top-quality vegetable tanned top-grain cowhide on its saddles. These leathers have
not been skivved and buffed to look perfect, but are Grade A hides with the full top-grain intact to ensure strength, integrity
and long life. We purchase our hides natural and undyed. Our "natural" leather is then oiled to a light golden color
which darkens with time in the sun. We dye our own leather using mineral based dyes which attain a saturation point deep in
the leather fibers.
For carving and tooling, we highly recommend ordering our Chestnut color as this particular dye reaches a saturation point
within the fibers to coincide with the depth of the carving. A rich color emanates in the deep carving because of the penetration
of the dye and it is unmatched in beauty! Our other colors are also highly suitable for carving and tooling.
The occasional blemish found in a natural smooth leather saddle indicates that it is a natural, full top-grain hide. Some
blemishes, usually very slight, are to be expected.
When you receive your saddle it will be oiled and ready to go. We only use natural oils as not to damage the integrity
of your saddle leather. Continued leather care will ensure the life of your saddle for many years to come!

FENDERS & LEATHERS (the stuff that attaches from your saddle to your stirrup!)
As with everything Timberline Saddle Company offers, fenders and leathers have their options as well! We have heard the
concerns of many different people over the years and have adapted options to handle these issues.
We offer a traditional fender, along with fenders that won't hurt your ankles. We've also come up with a small fender
for the distance models that eliminate pinching. For those who love the 2" leather straps, those are available too!
Construction is surpassed by none. Our fenders and leathers are made of top-grain cowhide, reinforced nylon webbing and
are lined with boot leather. This will keep the sweat from going through your fender and protects the fender. The nylon gives
it strength without stretching. Our fenders and leathers are built to last! All our fenders and leathers are made of reinforced
cowhide.

STIRRUP OPTIONS
Pick from:
Leather Covered Bells
Leather Covered Ropers
Leather Covered EZ Rides
Nylon Core EZ Rides, with or without cages
Leather Covered Overshoe Stirrups
Glue in Footpads
We also offer Tapadoros.
Our "leather covered" stirrups are very unique and quite time-consuming to make. Built on a light weight nylon
core, these stirrups are covered with leather to match your saddle, wet molded, clamped, expertly sewn, with all the edges
sanded, waxed and burnished. These are beautiful!
Timberline stirrups are comfortable with a base of 1/2" thick neoprene foam topped with a non-skid surface that absorbs
more concussion and prevents more foot pain than you can imagine.
All stirrups are available in Natural, Rust, Chestnut, Brown, Rust, Oxblood and Black. Pick White, Black or Brown thread
color. Your stirrups can be tooled to match your saddle.

SKIRT OPTIONS
All of our Western Models are made standard with top grade, bark-tanned sheepskin. Our Endurance and English models are
lined with a fiber-incorporated material that is water resistant, allows for air circulation, is light weight, cushionable
and wears like iron!
The spring skirt flexes as the shoulder rotates eliminating wear at the front of your saddle skirts, not to mention alleviating
the irritation to your horse's shoulder and withers. These types of skirts enable the horse to move more freely.
You may add sheepskin to the bottom of your Endurance or English skirts.

CARVING & TOOLING
All our tooling and carving is performed by Missouri craftspeople. We don't send your saddle components across the country
to be carved, but keep it close at hand with our company of expert craftspeople. We "lift" the patterns, "bevel"
and "detail" our work like you seldom find in other Western saddles. Our hand-carving patterns jump to life from
your saddle
We particularly recommend choosing our "Chestnut" leather color when ordering our hand-carving. Like all our
hand dyed leathers, the Chestnut is soaked in mineral-based dye until it has received the maximum penetration within the leather
fibers. Interestingly, the dye molecules are the most dense deep in the leather where thye have "piled up" at the
maximum saturation point. What happens when the carving takes place is that the leather is cut into this deepest penetration
point, providing a gorgeous "patina" in our hand-carved patterns. The same is true with oxblood, brown, rust and
black, however chestnut provides the most natural looking patina. All of our leather colors can be tooled or hand carved.
We offer many styles of borders, partial carves and full hand carves as well as letters and picture carves. With picture
carves you can really customize your saddle with a picture you provide yourself!
